The enzyme-linked immunosorbent spot (ELISpot) is a cell-based immunoassay technology for quantifying cells secreting antibodies and/or cytokines. It is also one of the most commonly used methods to measure antigen-specific T cells. Some of the primary reasons for the popularity of the method are that ELISpot is highly quantitative, can measure a broad range of response magnitudes, and can assess critical cellular immune-related activities. The ELIspot assay can be used as a direct examination of specific T cell activation, and therefore requires proper controls to verify specificity within the assay and the nature of the activation. It is a critical part of immunogenicity testing and immune response monitoring studies for vaccine candidates in clinical development.
The BioPharma laboratory at Eurofins Viracor uses the CTL Series S6 Ultimate Imager for ELISpot assay development and testing for enzymatic detection of neutralizing antibodies (NAb), T cell cytokine secretion, CD8 T effector cell function, B cell cytokine/Ab secretion, and other client-specific applications.
Eurofins Viracor also offers the FluoroSpot system. which enables the simultaneous measurement of more than one analyte secreted at the single-cell level.
