Clinical and Procedure
Clinical Utility
This assay is only available as part of a panel and cannot be ordered individually.
Enterobacter cloacae is an anaerobic gram-negative nosocomial bacterium that can be acquired through the skin, gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract or derived externally due to the ubiquitous nature. This organism is an opportunistic pathogen, targeting compromised patients such as the young, old, or those that have a severe disease such as human immunodeficiency virus. Enterobacter infections can cause morbidity and mortality and are hard to manage due to multiple antibiotic resistance.
