Tryptase is a neutral protease of molecular weight 134,000 that is found almost exclusively in mast cells. It is used as a marker to monitor and analyze reactions involving mast cells.

Procedure

Enzyme Immunoassay (FEIA). It is manufactured by Phadia for the UniCAP instrument. The performance characteristics of this test have been determined by Viracor Eurofins. This test has been cleared or approved for diagnostic use by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
