Anti-thyroid peroxidase antibodies have been implicated in thyroid autoimmune disease. In many cases of Hashimoto's disease and Graves' disease thyroid peroxidase autoantibodies are elevated.

Procedure

The anti-thyroid peroxidase assay is performed on the Immulite 2000 analyzer system using highly purified human thyroid peroxidase coated beads. The assay is calibrated against WHO 1st IRP 66/387. This test has been cleared or approved for diagnostic use by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
