Acinetobacter baumannii is an aerobic gram-negative, opportunistic bacterium commonly isolated from the hospital environment. It infects patients hospitalized with injuries and surgical site wounds. A. baumannii has always been a multidrug-resistant organism inherently resistant to multiple antibiotics.
